Why Are We Different? Why Choose Cornerstone?
Our experienced Intake personnel are available to guide you in choosing what help is the most appropriate for you.
We believe that our programs have the highest integrity, quality and success.
In the Resources section of this website you will find a downloadable brochure from The Joint Commission called . The Joint Commission is an organization that accredits facilities, programs and hospitals. They check every area of a program, in depth, before awarding them the Gold Seal of Approval and Accreditation. Cornerstone of Southern California made the decision to be surveyed by them as a way of providing our clients, families, employers and insurance companies the assurance they need that Cornerstone will provide the highest quality of ethical treatment.
We have been accredited by the Joint Commission since 1991.
was founded in 1984, almost 25 years ago, by Michael Stone, M.D. Dr. Stone is a Board Certified Family Physician, a diplomat of American Pain Management Society and is certified in Addiction Medicine. He believes in a hands-on approach and is totally involved in the clinical quality of our program.
Dr. Stone has treated over 60,000 addicts since he began this work in 1969. He understands addiction!
, along with his family, all work full time at Cornerstone and have built the most respected Addiction Treatment Facility in the area.
Cornerstone specializes in Alcohol and Drug Detox and Rehab. Many of our clients have co-occurring disorders/dual diagnoses which must be treated alongside the Chemical Dependency. This is called integrated treatment and it is what we do best at Cornerstone.
can treat all chemical dependencies including, but not limited to, alcohol, narcotics (vicodin, oxycontin, norco, fentanyl, methadone, heroin, Suboxone), sedative hypnotics (Xanax, valium, Librium, ambien, sonata, lunesta, ativan, serax), methamphetamine and amphetamines (adderal and ritalin) cocaine, marijuana, PCP and the designer drugs (ecstacy, GHB, ketamine).
Besides the chemical dependencies there are often co-occurring other behavioral dependencies e.g. gambling, sex, food, exercise, religion and relationships which must be addressed.
Many of our clients bring with them co-occurring problems; mental disorders such as depression, general anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social phobia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), physical problems such as diabetes, hypertension, liver problems, gastritis, arthritis and back pain.
Often we find the person being admitted for substance dependence has been trying to self-medicate the symptoms of a mental or physical complaint. They often get themselves very confused, chemically, and emotionally trying to fix it without help. We are able to assist the individual in finding the right psychiatrist or other medical professional to help; they can evaluate and recommend the best course of treatment for each individual. The cost of this is additional to our Chemical Dependency program but is often covered by insurance.
offers a full continuum of care, allowing the individual to be detoxified and then transfer to the appropriate level of care e.g. primary residential treatment, day treatment, intensive outpatient, extended care or residential/sober living with seamless continuity. We believe that chemical dependency needs to be managed by a knowledgeable, professional team at all stages of their recovery. Many other programs offer only one level of care, on site, and then have to transfer the individual to another program to allow some degree of continued treatment.
is able to accept most health insurance including HMO. Please see “We Can Help” page for a list of some of the insurance companies we have contracts with. Because of our accreditation by The Joint Commission we can often get approval for your treatment by many other insurance companies not on our list. So give us a call at 1-714-730-5399 or 1-800-385-9889 and we will work with you. Our costs for those who wish to pay privately are reasonable and much lower than most other private centers in Southern California.
believes that because Addiction is a chronic disease and is highly prone to relapse, we must teach relapse prevention techniques throughout all levels of our program. It is not a ‘specialty track’ it is what we teach daily. Every part of our program is there for a purpose, to help avoid relapse, or to help someone recognize that they are IN relapse and need to get help before they take the next drink or drug.
has an Alternative Sentencing program that is probation-approved and well respected by the Courts. We can help clients, both locally and nationally, with their legal issues that resulted from their use of alcohol or drugs. Most of our Probation Approved programs are set up for people that are working and after some intensive treatment, they can continue to go to work or school or look for a job, while they are in a long term treatment program.
programs are in normal, home-like settings in upscale neighborhoods. We believe that a person suffering from addiction should have a good foundation for recovery when participating in normal everyday functions. In addition to Group Therapy, Individual Therapy Lectures, and Assignments, our residents follow a daily routine similar to what they will do when they leave treatment. They get up on schedule, go to bed on schedule, eat breakfast, make their beds, and assist with meal preparation and overall social interaction amongst their other 5 house members. We treat the whole person, in a holistic approach, to body, mind and spirit. We have a no/low sugar and no caffeine policy in the intensive levels of our program. Our residents learn about the importance of exercise and balanced living; we belong to LA Fitness and go to the gym up to 4 times a week.
provides a complete Recovery Management program, providing all levels of care and aftercare. Studies have shown that the longer one remains in a treatment program, the better his/ her chance of success. At Cornerstone of Southern California, we are able to provide many levels of care while someone is reintegrating back to life without alcohol or drugs.
If possible, schedule an appointment to come and see us, there is no better way to tell if a treatment center is right for you or your loved one than meeting the staff and coming to see it for yourself. If you are from out of town, remember we are accredited by The Joint Commission, they, as well as the State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug programs, can and do come and check us out on a regular basis..
